| Comments: |
York Pond Trail to Bunnell Notch Trail to Kilkenny Ridge Trail to Mt. Cabot Cabin - well packed for snowshoe use. Above Cabot Cabin, trail drifted in as usual.
Beyond Mt. Cabot, we followed some tracks for a little bit that dead-ended and were off trail. We did a traversing bushwhack (hoping to find a blaze) and ended up back on trail maybe 50 vertical feet up from the col on The Bulge. Stayed on trail from there, breaking 6-12" of powder, to the Horn spur junction. Generally followed the spur to the summit. Tracks were drifting in fairly quickly.
Beyond the Horn, trailfinding was difficult in places - lots of searching in a few of the open glades near the gullies that were sparsely blazed. Unknown Pond Trail was also unbroken up high, though we eventually hit old snowshoe tracks about 1/3 of the way down, though those were often drifted. Some moose postholing. |
