Comments
Comments: The UNH trail has a relocation for the start of the east branch of the trail. There are many signs with a map showing the new route. The split of the east and west branches of the trail is further uphill. There are many branches and twigs littering the trail from the recent high winds. There are some fallen trees. None of the wind damage causes an impediment on the trail. I had to break trail on much of the trail above the start of the loop. There was a lot of drifting making the going slow. There is currently a rough snowshoe path throughout the loop.

Mid afternoon I met three young hikers from New Jersey who were postholing with bare boots. They planned to hike the loop and had a flashlight.
There was one spot on the west branch trail where I briefly wandered off the trail as an evergreen bent in the trailway diverted me.
Gaiters were necessary in the drift zones.
