Comments
Comments: The snow was packed out from route 113 to the summit of Eastman Mountain. Much of the Baldface Circle to the loop junction is a thin layer of hard packed snow with some rocks and roots protruding above the snow. Grades on the Slippery Brook and Eastman Mountain trails are easy and require minimal to no traction. On the lower section of the Slippery Brook Trail one can either bare boot or snowshoe. Higher up snowshoes are recommended to keep the trail surface in good shape. There has been no recent use of the Baldface Knob Trail. The Slippery Brook Trail beyond the col had not been used however on my descent I met two hikers who were intending to use the west section of the Slippery Brook Trail.
Great views from Eastman Mountain's open summit. Even found dry rocks to sit on for lunch.
