Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Trails in great conditions for dogs. Above treeline there are a few icy patches here and there but Cinnilla had no problem picking a path around them. There are also a few pockets of loose drift snow that could conceal deeper holes. Hard to tell but they did not trouble us.

Comments
Comments: Below treeline the trails are well packed. Georg and I barebooted easily to the spur to Valley Way tent-site. Then we put on Hillsounds and kept them on for the remainder of the hike.
Above treeline it is a combination of bare rocks, crusted snow (solid) and ice. Snowshoes would be fine on Valley Way and Lowe's Path but they are useless above treeline (we carried them all day but never used them).
We had planned to do Jefferson as well but the expected snowstorm hit us a few hours earlier than anticipated. We proceeded to Thunderstorm Junction but with deteriorating weather conditions and increasingly poor visibility we decide to bail. Cinnilla was happy with our decision and as a consolation price we made it to the fine summit of Abigail Adams (formerly Adams 4).
Great to see John and Gary on the trails today.
