| Comments: |
There was snow/ice cover on the trail from trailhead onward with only a couple of small spots on bare ground exposed where there was running water on the trail. The snow/ice was very hard packed and can be walked in bare boots with traction. Microspikes will suffice for the Davis Path and the Mt Crawford Spur. The ice on the open ledges on the side of Mt Resolution was another matter. The ice was covered by a thin coating of snow so the extent of the ice on the ledges is not readily apparent. An uncontrolled slide on this ledge would be dangerous. I had difficulty holding the ledge with the FlexAlp snowshoe traction. Due to the time and the icy surface I abandoned the hike up to Mt Resolution.
I met two hikers who had hiked out to Stairs Mountain on the Davis Path. Many great views today. |
