Comments: What a grand day. Temps were a little cold at the start but wind did not seem so bad as we climbed. Pam Bales and I were the beneficiaries of a nice break out by a group of 7 folks up bridle path. We caught up to them on the steps going up to Greenleaf Hut and after took turns breaking trail through 8-18 inches of snow. Some drifts were very solid and in some places footing was difficult to get on the steeper sections. Once we broke out of the tree line the snow was minimal. We switched to crampons and micro spikes respectively and only bogged down a little bit in the trees between Lafayette and Lincoln. The views were incredible in all directions and the wind even seemed to die down a bit. Met a bunch of folks coming from the other direction who had come up Falling Waters and got good info on what to expect going down. Nice day and great conversation and my first non grid day for myself or some one else in a long time. Had forgotten how much fun hiking could be!
