Took me 3 hours to get to trail head from Barre, VT. NH DOT good, Vermont Trans Bad! By the time I got there Robie had already headed up through on Stony Brook. There were two young guys who had come in the previous day and camped out just below the ridge. That allowed us to have a little bit of a break until then. Robie had been breaking the trail from that point until half way up the ridge when I caught up to him. Conditions were 10-14 inches of new powder and no visible track. We manage from there to break out a track and navigate the maze over to Moriah. Lots of leaners and hangers but nothing substantial in the trail. There were some 1-2 day old tracks coming up from the ledges. On the way back down we passed the two guys that camped out as well as two others coming up for the day. The trail is still very loose and definitely not packed. Great day catching up with Robie.
