Comments
Comments: great day! valley way nicely packed out and smooth to treeline; some sideslope. above treeline there was a little blowing snow; tracks were covered in a very short time. up osgood to madison is nicely consolidated snow; good grip with snowshoes. above treeline there were drifts; most were consolidated and fairly solid. we stayed mostly on the trail or near, but at times found other routes. rock was pretty well snow covered above treeline. snowshoes are definitely an excellent choice. had hoped to go farther today but it was pretty windy. jewel had 6-12 inches of white fluffy stuff over a base; some sideslope there, too. not well packed out. really great day out; nice views. thanks Wayne.
