Comments
Comments: We started on the Red Ridge Trail following some old snowshoe depressions with fresh boot marks within. At the Red Ridge Link, the snowshoe trail went left and we continued following the now-postholing boot marks. This made breaking the trail even more difficult. I was guessing a rather heavy person was making the tracks, but just before we reached the trail junction with the Moat Mountain Trail, we met a young couple returning from the junction. They had been walking in each others prints, making single deep post holing prints. They had turned back when they saw the Moat Mt Trail had not been broken in. They went on their post-holing way, and we continued on, breaking trail all the way to North Moat.A rather exhausting climb, but fully rewarded by wonderful 360 degree views.
