Comments
Comments: Very little around Newfound Lake, however right around the corner on Bear Mountain Road, there's enough for snowshoeing. Snowshoed the entire hike - very little exposed ground. Broke out the Bear Mountain Trail - about 4-8" of spring snow. Lots of downed branches, a few blowdowns. Steep area a bit tricky - snowshoe crampons helped a lot. Elwell Trail was also unbroken, however it was more of a frozen granular, so I was generally able to walk on top of the surface. Lots of blowdowns - most you can get around for now. I continued over the summit area of Bear Mountain to some false summits, but not beyond.
