Comments
Comments: Our 26th annual Pemi ski-through was one of the easiest since we began these events in 1982, as the entire route was broken out for us, thanks to a 10-person group that began earlier from Zool hut. Good to get back after missing the past three years for a variety of reasons, lack of snow being the main problem the past two winters. To provide an idea how easy our Pemi ski-through was this year, our splits were 1.0 hr to Zealand trailhead, 2.0 hr to Zool hut jct, 2:45 hr to Thoreau Falls jct (25 min lunch at TF), 5:10 hr to Thoreau bridge, 10 min snack, 6:30 hr to Franconia Brook campground, 10 min snack, 7:05-7:30 hr to Lincoln Woods (one of the six of us skated as much as possible the last six miles on waxable skis going after our 6:30 hr record from two decades ago). Snow was slow in the afternoon, especially for waxless skis, and the Cedar Brook and East Side Trail finish is much harder than the old Wilderness and Lincoln Woods Trail exit on the north side of the missing suspension bridge.
