Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: ingerson road to the start of the old priscilla brook trail was in decent shape with some ice underneath a thin layer of snow. the trail starts right before a one lane bridge and directly in front of a "one lane bridge" sign. the road is plowed wide enough to park on the side without blocking traffic.

Comments
Comments: the priscilla brook trail was easy to follow, over grown in places with blowdown. numerous seeps and small drainages running underneath the snow had to be stepped across or gone around. on average probably 4-6 inches of snow over the more solid base. eventually the trail bears east and soon comes to an old wooden arrow sign that points across a confluence of brooks. there was blowdown across the brook and it just generally looked unappealing so i left the trail and continued on the right (south) side of the brook and made the decision to just take off into the open woods and bushwack up to the pliny/west pliny col. hit the col a bit up on the pliny side and from that point i took a direct line up pliny, with about a foot of snow over a solid base, to the summit. the woods were beautifully open the whole way. back down the same way to the col then headed generally west up to west pliny. these woods were very, very open. from that highpoint i headed down on a roughly southwest bearing with continued good woods hitting old log roads and a couple of fresh clearcuts farther down. a road out of one of the clear cuts led me south and pretty parallel to priscilla brook and i eventually cut back over hitting the trail about 100 yds in from ingerson road.
i wore snowshoes the whole hike.
a real nice hike. sort of wish i had held off for a clear day, but the clouds and blowing snow made things pretty neat and interesting especially on west pliny. couldn't ask for much more in terms of open woods for off trail travel. a fair amount of moose sign up high. real interesting summit areas that i will have to come back to on a day when it's possible
