Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The only water crossing on this route was the small stream near the Mt Langdon shelter. It was easily crossed on rocks.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Many tree falls especially on Mt Langdon. All can be ducked under, straddled over, or by-passed. One fallen beech tree near the Langdon-Crippie col hides the trailway in a section of path that isn't distinct. The blazes are faded and scarce on Mt Langdon and parts of the Mt Parker trail. Some sections of the trail to Mt Stanton are eroded.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw three dogs on Mt Pickering. During a dry spell don't expect water on this route.
Bugs
Bugs: A few bugs but none biting.

Comments
Comments: The trail selection was made in hope of not needing snowshoes as I left them at home. There is snow in the Crippie-Langdon col, the upper section of the Mt Stanton trail on Mt Langdon, the Mt Langdon trail from Mt Langdon summit almost down to the shelter, and the top half of the Mt Parker trail. I post holed to about two feet on three or four occasions when straying from the compressed snow track. Although snowshoes would do well in some stretches I would not recommend carrying them on this route. There was short sections of the trail on both sides of Mt Langdon with seasonal runoff.
Nice views up the Rocky Branch Valley to Mt Washington. Also good views of Iron Mtn and down to the Saco River Valley.
Note that the elevation gain of this route is similar to hikes to the northern Presidentials even though these are low summits (lots of up and downs).
