Comments
Comments: Great loop hike..the section of Cabin Trail from Whitten to Lawrence is in horrible shape with many many blowdowns and narrow footway along a steep sidehill..The Lawrence Trail rebuilt since my last trip here and eliminates a nasty ledge walk and one of the steepest grades in the Whites..What remains is a well graded well thought out part..a real delight..walk along the flat ridge of Paugus loaded with views and the close to summit spot excellent with Square Ledge, Passaconaway, and Whiteface dominating the western view. Old Paugus Trail descends some pretty impressive ledges along some shear cliff faces..very impressive with some rough footing.. Big Rock Cave worth a visit on its own..pretty amazing spot and a short jaunt back to the car from there
