Comments
Comments: The Avalon, A-Z & Tom Spur to the Summit of Tom were in great shape, only a few easily avoidable blowdowns. Most of our group wore spikes but a couple of us snowshoes. We followed the packed way right from the Tom Spur toward Field. We may have intersected the trail a few times but the packed way was a bushwhack that effectively wound around obstacles to the Field summit. Before reaching the summit of Field we were all using snowshoes. From Field to Willey we mostly followed the trail which had been broken out and even saw a few blazes just above the snow. From Tom Spur to Willey is now adaquately packed. Returning to Field we descended the Avalon Trail which was only partially broken out to Avalon. Many blowdowns and leaners on this stretch, but it too is now adaquately packed. After Avalon to the intersection trail was well defined and packed. Given the forcast a few days ago -- we had a terrific day with great views.
