Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Lower crossing on 19 Mile Brook is a rock hop. Other crossings are bridged.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few stepovers. One section of trail between Carter Dome and Mt. Hight was quite a mud hole...I got around it but it was tight. A few minor patches of snow-ice but no need to carry traction.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Much to my surprise the black flies weren't a problem...just a few here and there. A few mosquitos but never had to apply bug dope. Strong breeze on top no doubt helped.

Comments
Comments: Stopped at Carter Notch Hut to check it out. The crew was busy getting things ready for the week-end. Nice bunch of youngsters...enjoyed chatting with them. Saw moose just below junction of Carter Dome Trail on 19 Mile. Disappeared into the brush. Very few hikers in area. Group of 3 came in to Mt. Hight while I was there. I spent about an hour on Hight enjoying my new Scudder's Viewing Guide!
