| Water Crossing Notes: |
A couple down low on Sabbaday Brook were tricky, but doable with poles and a bit of searching - we took a herd path to avoid two of them |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Sabbaday Brook Trail was tough to follow in a few places, mostly where there were small streams in a the trail and no real blazing to mark the trail and subsequent crossings - also several blowdowns on the steeper section. The large patches of blowdowns on Kate Sleeper Trail between East Sleeper and Downes Brook Trail now have a corridor through them with evidence of lots of recent chainsaw work - HUGE thanks to everyone who's pitched away at this since last year, would have been much tougher to find our way if they were still there. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Hannah had a great day - plenty of water all over with the brooks and recent rains, and no issues with the steeper scrambles |
|
| Bugs: |
They were bad pretty much anywhere there wasn't a breeze, and definitely kept us motivated to keep moving and shorten our breaks several times |

| Comments: |
Great hike with varying terrain - Sabbaday Brook Trail is pretty gnarly, pretty clear it doesn't get as much use as Pine Bend Brook does. Once you hit the top of the South Tripyramid slide, stay left for the Kate Sleeper Trail and look for the yellow arrows on the rock - it could be easily missed if you're not looking carefully. As advertised, Kate Sleeper Trail was wonderful - felt very remote with a wonderful footbed for most of its length and plenty of moose signs. Didn't get rained on until Passaconoway Cutoff. Another warm muggy day, but a fantastic hike with lots of peaks and much redlining - thanks Ali and Hannah for another great one! |
