Plenty of water during first half of trail (stream). Today there was plenty of water everywhere, since we hiked in the pouring rain. |

Got munched on by blackflies and mosquitos in spite of the rain. The little buggers are becoming waterproof. |

| Comments: |
I purposefully did not wear rain gear (though I carried a jacket) so I could finally feel cool -- it's been an awful week of heat and humidity up here in the Whites. The hike felt great. Got soaked through but never even slightly cold. Even Max, who normally does not like to hike in the rain, had a good time.
The trail is well-maintained.
Saw two young women near the top as I was coming down -- they'd ascended via Mt. Pemigewasset Trail. Warned them of the slick ledges and drop-offs on the summit, then apologized for sounding like a mom. Hope my "be careful" didn't sound too annoying. |
