I was very surprised to see so much snow on the Packs today. It looked like the towns had zero snow, but other than the cliffy/talus section down low on the wapack there was constant snow ranging from a foot to three feet in some places as my crotch high postholes confirmed. Foolishly forgot my gaitors and would highly recommend bringing them to avoid soaked feet. Everyone was bear booting but snowshoes would be wise if making the hike from South to North Pack as there is constant snow cover which is very soft. Watch out for postholes. Sunscreen needed too, temps in the 60's! |
