Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The one minor crossing was easily hopped.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The lower mile or so of Owl's Head Trail (up to the minor crossing) was in rough shape. The entrance from the trailhead was fairly brushed in, and once the turn is made off the initial grassy road portion (before the sketchy camper), the trail is extremely brushed in. The remaining issue is mud, and lots of it. Beyond the minor crossing, the trail is in better shape, though brushy in spots, with minor mud. Martha's Mile in good shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Gnarly. Black flies and mosquitos all over me from the time I got out of my car, to the time I got back into my car. Picked up a tick (only made it as far as my sock) in a brushy area.

Comments
Comments: Second hike of the day. The lower portion of Owl's Head Trail was vexing, between the brushed in areas, the deep mud on trail, and the bugs that I could not move fast enough to outrun. Outstanding views from both Owlshead, and to a lesser extent, Mt. Martha. Considered descending Cherry Mountain Trail to 115 and hitching or walking back, but thought better of it. The heat, the bugs, and the mud led me to call it a day and hit the Moat for lunch and beers.

Blog post soon.
