Parking/Access Road Notes:
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Doable at lower water levels; wouldn't like to see them at high water.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Nice water bar maintenance, nice rock staircases (one still under reapair), nice bog bridges. The sign for the unmaintained trail is a little ways down it in the woods, and not visible from Nancy Pond Trail or Norcross Pond outlet. Don't mistake this trail for another unmaintained trail next to it that dead ends at an unmaintained campsite after a short distance.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Hey guys there are loads of good slurping and swimming spots, except on the unmaintained trail to Mt. Nancy. This trail is short but it takes a long time because it is so steep, so bring some doggie water. Mister Darcy, you're a GOOD BOY! And you look cool in your summer buzz cut.
Bugs
Bugs: Mosquitoes: nippy at first, then absent until Nancy Pond, their favorite spot of the day, where they were annoying. Gnats: eyeball oriented early in the day, then gone. Black flies: present at Norcross Pond and the viewpoint at the end of the trail on Mt. Nancy; biting a bit.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A Swiss Army Knife was found at the unmaintained campsite. Email me a description of the model and your mailing address and I'll send it right back to you.

Comments
Comments: This was a really great hike with a lot of variety of scenery. Distant views were terrific ascending the switchbacks along the falls, at the ponds, and at the view ledge. The falls seemed to be running pretty well. We saw frogs, dragonflies, and a great blue heron at the ponds.
