| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of parking at the Tramway parking and at the picnic/hiking area even for a crowded weekend. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
No major water crossings. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Kinsman Ridge between Cannon and the Tramway has the usual blowouts, wet ledges and other problems. Lonesome Lake dry with the usual eroding areas. Other than that the trails were in quite good shape and quite nice to hike. There are a few waterbars on the Cannon Balls section that would benefit from a cleaning; I scraped some crud out of the worst with my poles. The areas that were probably mud pits after a lot of rain on Kinsman Ridge over the Cannon Balls had dried out quite a bit and were not a problem. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Another 2 paws up from Pepper. There were few sip n dip opportunities and just enough water to drink for a comfy day. Otherwise bring water. But the trails up to Cannon had almost no one on them and the paw paths were easy except for a scramble section going up Cannon, which was a fun challenge. Some dogs, particularly smaller or inexperienced ones, may need a boost or pickup in places. Pepper also enjoyed the attention of the large group of Grid hikers and got to taste some griddogs. Skipper had fun as part of the Grid finish hike group. |

| Bugs: |
None |
|
| Lost and Found: |
Some gorp in a zip seal bag, a cotton T shirt and a small orange towel were all on the Cannon Balls section of trail. |

Gary Tompkins finished his Grid on Cannon with a very large group of family and fellow hikers, with a splendid tailgate afterwards. Congratulations to a great guy and great hiker.
Pepper and I enjoyed a great loop hike, parking at the Tramway, taking the Pemi to the Lonesome Lake Trail, and then up to the ridge and over to meet up with the Grid group coming up from the Tramway, for the ceremony on top complete with music and honorary poles. We were early enough that we met almost no one until Cannon. The Cannon Balls section of trail is a delight. The hike down included a stop at the wonderful ledges of Profile Mtn. The tailgate had plenty of food including John G's Griddogs. It was a beautiful day out, on some very nice trails, with wonderful hikers celebrating Gary's fine achievement. |
