Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The bridge over Twin Brook -- about 40 yards from the trailhead -- is still out (from flooding this past spring), but the crossing is relatively easy to rock-hop. Other water crossings are not an issue.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some sections of the Champney Falls Trail prior to the first (northern-most) intersection of the Champney Falls spur trail are heavily eroded. However, recent trail work (many water bars cleared/re-shaped) appears to be addressing this. Along the Champney Falls Trail, about midway between the two falls spur trail intersections, is a small handsaw-able blowdown, easily walked over/under.

Comments
Comments: This was the first time we had been on the Champney Falls Trail without snowcover, and while we were missing the even footbed of packed snow (there are some portions of the trail that are full of scree, akin to walking in a stream bed, or on slippery side slabs), we were able to appreciate the hours and hours of hard work that have gone into improving the trail: excellent stone steps, stone work, and other hardscape, as well as drainage work. (It's tough to fully appreciate this effort when it's buried under a few feet of snow.)
