Comments
Comments: The book describes this trail as hard to follow, but for experienced hikers paying attention it wasn't bad at all. Just read the description and be aware the trail switches from roads to woods a few times. Leaves did obscure the footway, but there are faded blazes every so often. If you are inexperienced, I can see how the lack of blazing and less distinct than 4k routes trail corridor might be unnerving. There is an overgrown clearing at 1.5 miles in you must push through, but there are stakes at either end of it to locate the trail. On the way out I missed turning back onto the trail proper, staying on an overgrown forest road which reconnected eventually and actually was a shortcut. No ice other than decorative, trivial patches up high.

Despite dropping temperatures I have decided to postpone heading south for the winter this year. Nice solitude-- no dogs barking or Bostonites bragging on trail today. Great to sneak this stealth hike and a trip to Province Pond all in during the morning hours. Roar!
