Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: no issues! rock hop on dry rock
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in good condition with exception of beginning descent on Doan Trail that were wet and had icy rocks but were easily avoided by walking out of the trail. We were pleasantly surprised no mud and much of rocks and ledgy areas dry and grippy. on near summit of Smarts where the iron bar laddersteps was there a lot of ice but bars just barely stuck out above them so we could easily use them. Lower Doan had plenty of flagged and well worn bypasses around what would have been wet muddy places. Nice pleasant day. Sadly firetower has a least four missing glass panes sitting on the floor and a guide wire is missing. Views were good 360 degrees! Clouds on the mountain tops to the north. Caretaker's cabin in good condition and clean.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Met only one person and his very well behaved and well dressed in orange dog on their way down Ranger!
