Comments
Comments: Road walk was snow free and dry. The summer parking lot still had quite a bit of snow on it so I figure that is why the road is still closed. We wore snowshoes from the first water crossing to the Carrigain Notch Trail. There are many snow free patches along the way but it made the most sense to leave our snowshoes on. After the water crossings after the trail junction, the snow is gone. You can bareboot for 1/2 to 1 mile. After that I switched to microspikes while my hiking companion switched to snowshoes. The trail up to Signal Ridge still has a lot of bend overs and the snowdepth is still quite deep but it was much easier going than it was a month ago. There's still a lot of snow on Signal Ridge but significant melting has occurred over the past couple of weeks. There are a couple places where there are bare rocks showing. The trail from Signal Ridge to the summit which was not broken out correctly last month now follows the correct trail. There are a couple minor blowdowns in that section as well.
On the return I switched to snowshoes halfway down because it had warmed up and I was beginning to posthole.
