| Water Crossing Notes: |
Water crossing on Sandwich Mtn. Trail is low, but rocks covered in ice, logs were helpful in crossing. The small crossings on Drakes Brook are easily rock hopped. The large crossing on Drakes Brook requires care even with lower water; ice bridge is starting to form, but not completely across, nor completely stable. The crossing can be made via the ice and rocks, or by scouting out for a more suitable route. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Two to three blowdowns on each trail, nothing that a few feet of snow won't cover, with the exception of one on the lower third of Sandwich Mtn. Trail that is bent over the whole trail. A herd path will probably form once there is more snow. |

| Comments: |
Chose to redline today instead of peakbag due to various reasons. Ascended Sandwich Mtn. Trail based on a quick look at the topo, and was glad I did. Trail in easy to follow, but steep in section and once past the mile or so mark there is plenty of boiler plate ice and boiler plate under a dusting of snow. Snow depth increases once the trail levels out. Drakes Brook trail has much more snow and once past the steeper, switched-back upper section is nice and wide cruise (with the exception of the last water crossing noted above) back to the parking area. Nice day to be out, saw no one, no Cheetahs, Giraffes, lions, tigers or bears. |
