Comments
Comments: Sawyer River Road was the iciest part of the hike. I used old microspikes for the road and kept them on until the last 2 mile climb up Signal Ridge Trail. From there, I switched to Hillsounds for more grip on some of the ice flows. Lots of snow up high and not as much ice as the Carters yesterday. The trail was covered in a thin layer of ice and snow. Winds were not as high as I expected (minimal) on the ridge, and the view from the Signal Ridge and the summit tower was awesome. The new observatory tower looks great - thanks to all who helped make that happen. Only a few other people out today.
