 | Comments: |
The Mt. Morgan trail was well packed so we opted to leave snowshoes in the car and wore micro spikes the whole trip. There were two sections - one just before the Crawford-Ridgepole junction and the other just below the summit - where I was really glad to have some traction even though we saw a couple of folks bare-booting. This trail is very well blazed and easy to follow. It did not appear that anyone had recently been on the section of the Crawford-Ridgepole trail between Morgan and Webster. We were thinking of doing a loop over to Percival, but again that section of the Crawford-Ridgepole trail also did not appear too broken out. So without snowshoes we decided to go back the way we came. Even thought it flurried all day, we had a nice view of Squam Lake from the summit - with the sun shining on it! And it was a surprise to bump into Adam and Theresa (Peter's tennis buddies) on the trail since we didn't know that they were winter hikers too! |
