Starr King Trail |
| Date of Hike: |
Saturday, January 25, 2014 |
| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Both summer and winter parking were in use on Saturday, as the snow depth was minimal. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Black, Ice - Blue, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular |
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
No significant crossings on this trail |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
No blowdowns or other issues. I recall a summit sign from my last trip up Starr King, but it appears to have been well-hidden in the snow, I couldn't find it. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Only saw 2 dogs today, which was surprising for such a popular trail. |
| Bugs: |
| Lost and Found: |
That lonely stabilicer is still hanging from the trailhead sign. |
| Comments: |
Large stretches of flow ice on the upper half, below the summit. Snowshoes totally unnecessary, but traction is. |
