Light traction could have been used throughout the entire hike. Used snowshoes, which were fine on all trails above Zeta Pass. A little bony for the shoes at the top of Hight, and the first hundred yards down the northern side, but manageable - perfect for the loose snow the rest of the way down to Zeta Pass. Light traction was adequate from Nineteen Mile Brook Trail to Zeta Pass on the Carter Dome Trail, but full traction would have been a better choice due to a couple of sections of blue ice. Great views, especially from Hight on what turned out to be a clear, virtually windless day. Congrats to Diane on #46 All Season. |
