Comments
Comments: Skied out to the wilderness boundary on both sides of Pemi from Lincoln Woods. Broke out the faint ski track set sometime before the last storm. Noticed faint tracks past wilderness boundary on east side but not sure how far. Pondered crossing Pemi at East Side wilderness boundary but sank too deep with the skis in the soft snow on the river and turned back. Came upon a couple on the East Side trail who asked me, "Did you do the loop?" Me: "um, no, the bridge is gone!!!!" Them: "Did it washout with Irene?" Me: "Um, no, they TOOK it out before that!!!!" Them: "OH!!!!?"

Pine Island was decent skiing; Franconia Falls Trail - decent skiing until it got steeper. Fun day - lots of traffic - probably more skiers than snowshoers.

Was glad to see machine-set tracks on both sides of the river this year!!! Oddly, it appeared that there were faint machine-set tracks on the East Side beyond the blown-out culvert - not sure how??? They went to the open area where they looped around at the edge of the wilderness boundary? Very odd???? Another skier I met thought they looked machine-set too????

Below is a pic from the Pemi East Side Trail. I will be back soon to go further on the East Side!!!
