| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Pulloff on Bennett Street was well-plowed for several cars; road to Bennet Street was filled with frozed ruts. I drove west from exit 24 to get to the trailhead. The main roads through Holderness/Sandwich/etc to the trailhead were occasionally marked, "Frost Heave." The entire road is a frost heave. Allow extra time, as usual... 20mph max at times.... you might want to take seasick meds as a precaution if you get at all nauseous with constant rocking and braking. |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
Open water in a couple of the steeper gullies but, the beaver pond area and most flatter stream crossings, particularly in the horseshoe area were well-bridged!!! |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Excellent - almost no deadfall anywhere - snowmobile tracks went all the way to the pond/shelter. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
didn't see any, but, saw some wild dog tracks and a splash of blood near some itty bitty tracks |

| Comments: |
Nice area today! I walked the steep sections - didn't bring microspikes for those, but, the snowmobile tracks were a little icy in the steep gullies. Snowmobile tracks were frozen ice with about a quarter inch of new snow on top - a bit noisy and crunchy most of the time. For the descent, speed checks were a little rough!!!! Didn't see a soul. Always a fun winter ski!!!!
Below is a picture of Flat Mountain Pond - a snow squall developed when I was there - so pretty! |
