The first 1.9 miles along the brook are easy and beautiful. Switchbacks up the carter dome trail were easier than i thought although i only counted 5 instead of 7---nice surprise. It was really windy at the view (sign) before the hut. The steep downhill towards the hut was treacherous. I should have had crampons but muddled through with snowshoes and much cursing. All in all a great day out with beautiful blue and sunny skies and warm temps. The trail was so well packed no traction is needed except of the steep part before the hut |
