Comments
Comments: with heavy snow on the way we opted for a smaller peak today. Mount Crescent Trail had seen some traffic, loose packed at best. We headed up Crescent Ridge Trail at the jct, it did not appear that anyone but the moose family had been along this route in quite some time. Broke out pole deep snow for long stretches..pretty nice work out in silent moderately falling snow. It was quite nice really. Lots of moose sign.
From the summit down on Mount Crescent Trail there was a powder filled trench which made for a great descent. Opted to take a couple of the various side trails on the way down which had a powder filled trench as well as wide open hardwoods with occasional woods road cutting off..there would be great skiing up in here. nice snowy day hike out with Valerie
