| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The Davis Path trailhead parking area is huge, paved and plowed. There were only four cars in it on Thursday. Too bad -- it was such a great hiking day! |
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Spring Snow, Snow/Ice - Postholes |
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Saco River crossing has that fancy bridge; other smaller stream crossings are either still ice-bridged or small enough to step over. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail is in great shape. A few easy-to-get-around blowdowns. Some minor branches that get in the face of us up-higher winter hikers. |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Kim's dog Petey had a ball. |
| Bugs: |
Not yet. |
| Lost and Found: |
There is a winter hat hung on a tree limb at eye-level on the road walk from parking lot to Saco River bridge. It is woven wool with chin ties. If someone is missing it, that's where it was (yesterday, anyway). |

| Comments: |
In the morning it was still cold (around freezing) and the trail was mostly hard snow, so we wore MicroSpikes to ascend; in the afternoon it was warm and sunny (in the 50s) and the trail had softened up, so we wore snowshoes to descend. In both directions despite footwear we occasionally postholed. Off-trail snow depth is probably between one and two feet deep. The trail itself looks as though it will soon morph into that infamous "monorail" condition. |
