Comments
Comments: Bare-booted the first mile or so. Minor trail ice was encountered, micro spikes worked great. Snow in the center of the trail (monorail) was well packed. Some post-holing when stepping off the track. Spur trail to South Peak was unpacked, and snowshoes were required to and from (though only worn on the "from"). Carriage Rd to summit from Glencliff int. could be bare booted (post-holing every 4th or 5th step!), but snowshoes made it much, much, easier. Clear and windy on the peak. Snow began to deteriorate on the descent. Great care is needed when going down the steep sections on Glencliff trail. Mushy snow caused a few slip and slides; no injuries, just embarrassment. What a great day to hike the Moose! #31 for yours truly.
