Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Going up to Jackson there were minor rock-hopping, water crossings but the water was fast moving. I carried my Chihuahua across rather than take the chance of him careening down the river ;) On the way down Webster, there is one moderate, water crossing that I had to wade across knee deep. Not a problem for me but shorter people may want to head up or down stream for an easier crossing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The white trail blazes on the traverse are faded and difficult to see. The blue blazes are in great shape. No obstructions on the trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The ascent up to Mount Jackson was no problem. However, my chihuahua and I were postholing it most of the 4 mile traverse from Jackson to Webster. Some dogs are prone to bleeding between the paws and this might not be a good time to hike with them. On the way down from Webster the running water was shin deep in spots for me. My chihuahua was able to avoid most of the deep spots but spent a lot of time belly deep in water. Although this didn't seem to bother him,I put him on top of my backpack for about a mile of the descent to avoid potential injuries.

Comments
Comments: Just before I reached the waterfall, on the descent from Webster, I fell on the ice and slid about 20 feet. I was wearing my spikes but they just weren’t penetrating this part of the trail.

At the falls, I was startled by the beauty of the glacier-like blue ice alongside the waterfall. I sat along the edge of the water and stared at it for a long time. It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen on a hiking trail.

From there on it in it was easy trekking back to the car.
