Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: None at 8AM, but suspect it was rather jammed later if the number of happy hikers on the ridge was any indication.
Surface Conditions

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Brooks are still up a bit; nothing too difficult though.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Greenleaf from Lafayette to hut shows signs of ever so slight brushing out. Trail is still way too narrow for the amount of traffic.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Lots of happy pups on the trail today. A few skirmishes, but most were able to control their dogs without incident.
Bugs
Bugs: Bugs are starting to come out. No bites yet, although did inhale the first black fly of the season. Wonder what the caloric/nutritional value of a black fly is?

Comments
Comments: A festive day on the ridge. Could see showers, but nothing that hit the Franconias. Still a bit of ice on Falling Waters above the spur trail to Shining Rock, but nothing a bit of cautious footing couldn't deal with. On the way down OBP it appeared there's either a new slide, or a widened one, to the left of Shining Rock in the next ravine to the north. It's at the same elevation as Shining Rock. Might have just been the light, but it looked fresh within the past few months.
