Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The first couple on York Pond Tr required care and the use of debris and one damp boot. The three on Unknown Pond Tr were easy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A couple large blowdowns between Middle and South Terrace Mtn as well as between Mt Cabot and the Horn Spur. Some were developing herd paths around. The path to Cabot Spring is very tight but marked with old ax blazes. Unknown Pond Tr had a couple large blowdowns and could use a hair cut.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Marlie led the way most of the day. Except for the final scramble up to The Horn the trails are dog friendly. It's probably easiest for a dog to climb up the west side of The Horn.
Bugs
Bugs: The black flies were pesky if we stopped for more than 5 minutes. Mainly at the summit of South Terrace, The Horn, and Unknown Pond Tentsite.

Comments
Comments: It was an excellent day to lay down some more red ink and tie up some loose ends. The highlight of the trip was the fawn that Marlie discovered hiding in the hobble bush a couple miles up York Pond Tr. It couldn't have weighed more than 25 pounds and was very awkward on its feet. Not knowing how it got separated from its mother I didn't want to scare it off any further so I took two quick pics the we headed on our way. We saw no one else in the woods all day! Awesome.
