Comments
Comments: The ledges on the upper part of Blueberry Ledge Trail were dry for safe passage. Very little wet trail. WODC has done a nice job keeping the trails clear of trees.
Had a nice discussion with Rick from Montpelier up to Whiteface (his 11th 4K peak). Met a group from Cambridge Ma who were enjoying the outlooks around Passaconaway. Make sure to visit the north outlook if the visibility is good.
Met another hiker low on the east side of Nanamocomuck Peak who was disoriented, with no map, tiring, and no water. It took some questioning to determine the trailhead he needed to get down to. He was unfamiliar with the trail names. I was able to get the hiker down to Square Ledge Trail where he headed north to meet the Square Ledge Branch trail down to the Oliverian Brook Trail. Hopefully he made it out. I shared some water. He had only a small commercial spring water bottle for the hike. I recommended he purchase the White Mountain Guide with maps. I am guessing he headed down Walden Trail from Mt Passaconaway and failed to head downhill on the Square Ledge Trail heading to the Passaconaway Cut-Off trail.
Thunderstorms were in the region by late afternoon. I ran down Old Mast Road and arrived back at Ferncroft just as it started sprinkling. Saw a bear and her two cubs on route 113A in Sandwich on my way home.
