This peak is the east shoulder of Howe peak, which is the east should of Shelburn Moriah. I chose to do it from the north to avoid crossing the Wild or having to walk the Highwater trail.
After walking about 1/4 mi. on the Shelburn tr. I headed south, shooting for the northwest shoulder. The woods were open and easy. It was a bit steep, but went fast. I followed the spine to the highpoint, which was easy to find once I was there. However, there were many ups and downs that made me fear I would miss the top. (you may want to bring something to write on if you go). There is a nice veiw near the top. To get down I dropped into the drainage to the Connor brook.
This was a great mid-day hike. |
