Great day for a long loop hike. Parked at the gate on Tunnell Brook Rd, then walked to RT 112. Got a hitch right away that took me right to the Black Mtn trailhead! Black Mtn is easy walking, although not particularly scenic. The views from the summit were very nice and the Chippewa trail is gorgeous! Easy walk to the Blueberry Mtn trailhead. Spoke with loggers who were just finishing up a four year long harvesting project. There were no problems following the trail - great views from ledges and the summit spur. Tunnell Brook Tr was in pretty good shape. Wet areas easily bypassed, I'd love to camp here sometime. Final roadwalk was tedious at the end of a 19.5 mile day. |
