Water Crossing Notes: Rock steps all.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No significant blowdowns. No significant brushiness on Skook, only a little on Greenleaf. Greenleaf has a few waterbars that could benefit from a cleaning; I opened a few a bit with my poles. It had a fair amount of running water in the trail in places, but mostly trickling. All signs in place. It was tricky icy in the shaded upper section of Greenleaf above treeline on the way up, and even more so heading over to N. Lafayette later. I had microspikes and was glad I did, but never put them on.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Fun day for Pepper. He had no problem with any of the icy sections, up or down. Temps were comfy, and while there was some wind on Lafayette and more going over to N. Lafayette, but he's good with wind, and actually seemed to enjoy it. We managed to beat the crowds except for our brief return to Lafayette. We saw one other dog on the ridge.
Bugs
Bugs: None

Comments
Comments: Some time ago I asked Steve why the Bike Path was in the AMC Guide, and he said it made a good loop with various trails, so today we used it that way, and it was excellent on this wonderful Fall day. There were a few bicyclists on it, and few dog walkers.

On Lafayette, I broke one of Pepper's favorite treats into quarters, one for him, one each for my old buddies Shorty and Shadow, and one for Will, and we celebrated their lives. I never met Will, but through Tom's words and video, I have grown fond of him. Farewell Will, may you, Shorty and Shadow be forever young.
