|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Beaver Dam has caused flooding across rail trail between trailhead at Hazel (airport)Road and Cherry Pond, just a short distance south of power line. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail is clear of blow downs and is well marked. Saw orange flagging on north side of Little Cherry Pond that looks like future path? Bog bridges on Col Whipple Trail are beginning to show signs of rotting in wet places and a few were under water. Mud Pond trail is the most curious construction for a handicap accessible trail, graded hard pack with plywood and wood posts boarder, looks like they could have constructed a paved road for less expense. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
sure would be fun for them, there is a notice at Mud Pond Trail that dogs must be on leash at all times. |
|
| Bugs: |
none, too cold and windy |

| Comments: |
Pretty view across Cherry Pond to its namesake mountain. Clouds covered most all the mountaintops otherwise (Pliny's summit was just below the clouds). On the middle part of Col Whipple Trail a moose wouldn't get off the path in front of me, it was fun walking behind it. We enjoyed the cold and windy day, saw no birds but met one man out birding. |
