Comments
Comments: mt. major trail was pretty clear until the lower ledges where some small flows of ice started to appear and the footbed turned to a thin layer of crusty snow. into the main ledges i took the bypass as the main route was heavily ice bulged. some fairly significant, but still avoidable, ice on the bypass then some tricky maneuvering around another solid flow to gain the upper ledges. more patchy ice and crusty snow in spots to the summit. heading down the brook trail there were some good sized patches of ice on the ledges then crusty snow with spotty ice once down in the woods. a fair amount of leaves down on parts of the lower trail.
probably time to consider carrying light traction for this one. i had some along, but didn't have to use it today.

nice afternoon hike to major. always a nice workout with a big pay off on top. pretty cold a windy on the upper ledges and summit.
