Took Spellman up today. Absolutely beautiful. Everything is crusted w/ ice and the trees were bent over w/ ice. It became impossible to read the trail direction after 1/3 of the way up Spellmen. After switching back and forth looking for the route up, I thought it best just to let the mountain win one today. Crampons worked great, I would't attempt Spellman w/o traction. Microspikes would probably have been enough. |
