| Comments: |
The first mile is full of postholes from 2 bare booters who set out this am. luckily they turned around after about 1 mile. The crust is firm enough that Baxter (70 lbs) and I in my snowshoes could walk just about anywhere. Once over Surprise the powder snow gets deeper and the crust gets thinner so we were breaking threw. There is a ton of ice and some snow on the trees. You can knock off the small amount of snow but the branches don't lift up because of all the ice. We had a hard time following the trail on the way to Surprise because there are so many trees bent over with ice and snow you can't tell the trail from the forest. |
