Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking is on private land at the end of Herman Savage Road, off of Lost Nation Road. The owner (Joe) has a couple of plowed spots just down from his house. We spoke to him on the phone (his son called him for us), he told us the rules (no hunting/firearms/motorized vehicles), and asked us to sign the log book in the cabin. Thanks again for allowing us to use your land!

Comments
Comments: A great hike with Andrew B., knocking off another could NHHH peaks. With the exception of maybe the two Garfield Ridge peaks, these two were a piece of cake. The old road and trail up to Mt. Mary was great, though we were breaking trail the whole way. Down low was dust on an un-supportive crust, over several inches of packed snow, rough stuff. Higher up it was medium density powder, 12 to 18 inches in spots, 6+ on average. The cabin was great, and though I've heard the view is great, we got nothing today. Went to Mary first and signed in, plenty of familiar names, last entry from 11/15. Back up to the height-of-land on the trail, we took off nearly due north to Middle Pilot in fairly open woods. The canister took a bit to get open, but we managed and signed in, last entry from 11/8. Back down the trail, it started snowing lightly, and kept up for our descent.
