There is active logging in the area so there is a short re-route at the trailhead - to the left - signed and flagged - it does cross a logging haul road before rejoining the original trail. A great day out with warm temps and clear blue skies - saw many of the higher summits wrapped in cloud cover. Trail had packed snow cover with just a few bare spots bottom to top, snow was soft and sticky most of the way up with some slush along the way. There were some slick spots heading up the various ledges (beginning about 1/4 mile past the bridge) where traction was helpful to maintain grip. When temps drop will have a lot of ice. Packed powder for last .5 mile. Traction very helpful coming back down until off the ledges to avoid slipping. |
